It was never quiet in Ikebukuro; especially not at night. Even thought the nightclub Tsumi worked at had just closed, many of the other clubs would still be open for several hours. The streets didn't have as many people as they did during the day, but at night you had to worry about gang activity. Tsumi didn't really worry, though, because Ikebukuro was where the Yamikitsune Kai lingered about; she wouldn't have to worry about her own "co-workers" attacking here. But the Yamikitsune Kai wasn't the only gang that hung around Ikebukuro at night; she always kept a small hansgun strapped to her thigh when she was out and about at night. But, activity amung the other gangs had slowed down recently, so it was just as a precaution.
As she walked home, she thought about why she had even joined the Yamikitsune in the first place. She chose the gang life several years ago, after her boyfriend's death. It was the result of a civilian cross fire incident with the Aoikazuchi gang. At the time, she didn't think about what she was doing, but it was too late to back out now. Leaving the group would mean relocating, a new identity, and leaving behind everything she had worked for. At least that's what happened to most ex-gang members that she had heard about. They leave, they are under suspicion of giving out the gang's secrets, the gang comes after them; the rest is history. The way the world was today, she assumed that the leader of the Yamikitsune would show no mercy either. Although she had never met her, she pictured her as all other crime leaders; mean, merciless, and a trigger happy criminal. But like they say, don't judge a book by its cover.
She stopped and examined the window display at a popular clothing store and considered doing some shopping. But with classes in the morning, she needed to get home and be getting some sleep, so she decided new clothes could wait, and continued walking. First she had college, then doing some investigation for the Yamikitsune, and after that she had to work until one in the morning. She amazed herself at how she was able stay awake during class. Thankfully she worked at a club that closed earlier than others. The next week, she had exams, so she'd have to cut her time collecting intell, but she'd pick up a few obvious tips and report them. It wasn't exactly what they wanted, but they couldn't complain, she was still doing her job, even if the information got them nowhere.
She had always wanted to be an adult, but now that she was finally there, she hated it. part of it was her own fault. She practically worked two jobs, one real one and one with the Yamikitsune. Then came college; a royal pain in the ass. And then there were the bills and rent for her apartment. Part of her was glad that she had joined the Yamikitsune because she would never be able to pay for anything with her crappy little bartender job; she practically lived off of tips and reward money. Good thing her parents paid for her college classes.
Her commute home always had one definate stop. She always stopped at the park for a short break since her apartment was only a few blocks away. She found her way to the usual bench by the fountain. The changing color of the lights inside the fountain amused her; she may be nineteen, but she is a blonde after all. Usually, she just sat and stared at the lights, but today, a little black cat hopped onto the edge of the fountain and blocked her view. "Hey~ You're blocking--" she stopped in the middle of her sentence after she realized that she was yelling at a cat. it just stared at her like she was some kind of idiot. "You're actually kinda cute." She smiled and reached out to pet the cat, but it hissed and she pulled her hand back.
