Dark blue eyes stared upwards at the grey sky above as though waiting for some sort of sign from above. The weatherman had promised a sunny day, but the sky had been threatening rain since the day before with its ominous clouds and dark visage. A small sigh hit the air, and a 'tsk' sound escaped shortly after. Yuu's dark eyes dropped once more flickering back behind the rather tall young woman with rather short black hair. "Of course he lets training out right before it's about to rain," Yuu mumbled under her breath as she stared at the ancient looking dojo that she frequented as much as her time would actually allow. Returning her head forwards again, Yuu rolled her shoulders briefly and started walking away and through the streets of Asakusa.
I hope I can get home before this rain hits... was the quiet thought that came. She didn't have an umbrella with her, and though she could probably run back to the dojo and borrow one, it would probably get lost among her various items back at her home/shop the minute she made it inside. The last thing she wanted to do was have to buy one to replace the first or rob her grandparents of a perfectly good umbrella. No, she'd just walk... even if it means going through this rain, I guess... With that thought, she simply continued to walk. The sounds of people on the street didn't get past Yuu, and as a rickshaw passed, she stepped a little closer to the buildings as though to help it pass- as if it really needed such but still.
Drop. Yuu blinked a little reaching up a hand and touching the bridge of her nose where a new water droplet was doing its best to slide downwards. "Oh great..." was the quiet mumble that followed.

This was just not her day. Tsukino Rin was a punctual, competent woman - but when it came to grocery shopping, she wasn't exactly sure what she was supposed to do. Her brother wanted "good food" he said - not that disgusting coffee she seemed to be able to thrive off of. And, truthfully, Rin could probably survive off of coffee and work alone, with brief visits to her brother somewhere in between there. Unfortunately, Rin's tastes for nutrition and Akihiko's ideas were not exactly the same, and so as the older sister, she was required to attend to his needs.
There were more reasons than just being the elder child, but at the moment, Rin did not want to debate on that quite yet.
At any rate, she now was making her way through the rainy street from the grocery store, where she'd been submitted to a rather humiliating experience. She'd never really ever paid with anything for her credit card before. She just had everybody else do these things for her. So after finally picking out some "good food" for Akihiko, she'd spent at least fifteen minutes trying to figure out how to swipe her card at the check out before the cashier had to show her how to do it.
And now it was raining. A cherry on top of her perfect-day-sunday.
Vision blurred by the rain and the wind, Rin, carrying her bags of food and trying to balance her umbrella up as well, found that she was in a particular state of disarray. She nearly ran into Yuu because she was so distracted. "Yuu!" she exclaimed, looking suddenly relieved - but then she remembered that she wasn't supposed to be relieved, Yuu was her subordinate. The wind swirled. Rin cleared her throat and straightened, wiping the relief at seeing a friendly face from her expression. "I mean - Yukimura," she corrected, carefully. "Strange, to see you out here at this-"
The wind whipped her umbrella out of her hands, strands of soaked, silvery hair sticking to her cheeks. She was, indeed, a certain mess in comparison to her regular dignity and poise; but even in the midst of it all, she managed to keep an expression of composure on her face.
"As it were, I was just returning from a shopping escapade," she explained vaguely. "Things have - have not been going well today."

Don't run... just walk. Don't run... just walk... Like a teacher telling her first year students not to run through the hallway, Yuu kept trying to tell herself not to run through the rain despite how much her legs wished to fly back home. As it started to fall in larger amounts, it only boiled her nerves that much more, and she was fighting the urge to actually whisper what she was thinking into the air. The last time she'd ran through the rain, she'd fractured her ankle in the process, and Yuu didn't want to chance that again. She'd be soaked when she got home, but at least she would be in one piece.
As much as she was focusing on taking careful steps, Yuu didn't notice the woman walking towards her until she was suddenly rather close to someone. Stopping dead in her tracks, Yuu looked up and blinked several times at the woman before her. Tsukino-sama? The sudden shout of her name was enough to cause Yuu to stand up a little taller than before, but after a moment, she relaxed again and offered a gentle smile in return. As Rin corrected herself, Yuu smiled a little more though this was quickly kicked back by the umbrella's discord towards its master to which Yuu quickly reclaimed it before it went too far away. Fingers delicately strangled the end, and after a moment, Yuu twisted the umbrella back upwards and held it forwards over Rin. At the explanation that followed, a quiet nod was made, and a small smile once more set on her features.
"I see," Yuu replied coolly to Rin's last statement first giving a gentle nod to accompany her words. "That's not good," she continued keeping her voice as sincere as possible despite the slight trembling that came with her words. She could easily ride it off as the rain and the wind, but truthfully, Yuu could never quite be sure how to properly respect the leaders of Yamikitsune. she didn't want to come off as obnoxious or even possibly sound sarcastic with her words, and it was harder to know how people would react than Yuu would ever admit. It was that uncertainty that always ate at Yuu, but she did her best to kick it to the back of her mind and just try and remain pleasant despite the rain.
"I was just headed home from training," she admitted making a slight motion to the bag that rested on her shoulder before looking back again. "However, if you would like some assistance on your way-" Yuu hesitated a moment realizing that Rin had no said where she was returning to. "On your way, I'd be more than willing, Tsukino-sama." she finished before offering yet another soft smile.

Well, wasn't that just darling. Rin was certain that her day could not possibly become any worse - unless, of course, a car that was passing managed to hit a puddle in just the right manner to splash her. Wouldn't that have been just positively hilarious? Just like in those movies Akihiko liked to watch, Rin thought a little tiredly. The exhausted heroine, conquered once more by the classic car-and-rain-puddle trick.
But not this time. No, this time the fates were more hell-bent on making her look positively ridiculous in front of her subordinate. She was sure she was quite the sight to see, while most of the time she was more often than not flawlessly groomed and perfectly composed. But she couldn't have stopped the relief that washed over her face when she ran into Yuu, and even though she detested it, she felt thoroughly grateful for the other's offering to help her carry her things.
"I wouldn't want to distract you from your duties," Rin replied, trying to remain as dignified as possible as she took the errant umbrella back from Yuu. "But as it were, I'm not so accustomed to doing menial tasks such as grocery shopping, and the work required is-" She didn't want to seem incapable of doing silly things, but the words- "-rather insurmountable at this point, considering the weather." - came out before she could stop them. Basically, what she was saying was, I hate grocery shopping and if you could please carry some of this I would be grateful. Sort of.
Because in all actuality, she ought to be able to do this herself. The problem was that she was totally un-conditioned to life as a Regular Human Being. What was this? Not everybody could survive off of a diet consisting solely of coffee, paperwork, and ruthless badgering of subordinates? Inconceivable.
"I was just on my way to drop these off for my brother," she explained, offering Yuu a bag - but just one, only one, because she could handle at least two grocery bags and an umbrella - and began heading back down the street once more. "Unfortunately, he can't get energy merely from drinking coffee, as I do, so I had to make a grocery run for him."

It was almost kind of funny to see the right hand woman in such a mess, but rather than actually laugh and point, Yuu found worry flickering in her. What would other people think if they happened to catch sight of this? What judgments would be made? Would it look bad for the group overall? That was what possibly struck Yuu the hardest, and she quickly shoved that from her mind.
The words that came from the older woman were heard, and Yuu suddenly suppressed the urge to instantly say she was free- though in truth she was, more or less. She lived away from home now, and thus, what she did come back to when she came home was an empty flat above her store that sometimes had a cat on her windowsill if she happened to be lucky that day. Yuu wouldn't admit it was somewhat lonely- because she could deal with that, but she would admit that it did free her up quite a bit outside of her scheduled work hours.
Fingers left the umbrella as it was taken from her grasp, and a hand dropped subtly to the side again. "The weather is rather bad....I'd be glad to help," she replied softly. She knew- or at least assumed she knew- how much Rin worked, and where she could assist, she would. As the bag was offered, Yuu took it and easily shouldered it with her free shoulder without much of a second thought though Rin's words had stirred up other thoughts. She honestly couldn't say she knew that much about the other woman's personal life, and really she wasn't one to pry anyways.
Yuu almost laughed almost at Rin's comment until the question of whether the woman was serious or not actually hit her causing a small squeak to escape from Yuu. "I'm afraid not many can," she replied though her eyes had once again dropped a little trying to keep an eye out for puddles and various other water traps as she walked and did her best to keep in line with Rin. "How old is your brother?" she asked before mentally kicking herself for prying. It was a simple question but also a question of Rin's private life which was up to her to decide whether she wanted to divulge or not.
"I have two little brothers, though they're a lot younger than me," she said hesitantly before smiling softly and thinking of the boys. She was glad her mother had remarried and had managed to find someone that wasn't as abusive as her father had been even if that meant the production of children that were more than ten years younger than herself.

Rin liked to abide by the general rule of not including her personal life with her work life. Unfortunately, it was not always possible; you ran into your coworkers on the street, you saw them in the store, you happened to be at the same restaurant at the same time as them. It was impossible to always avoid it, and though she wasn't particularly proud or happy about her personal life, it wasn't something she was afraid of sharing with Yuu. Not because they were close, or best friends, or anything like that, but because Yuu was under her reign and, if anything happened, Rin was comforted by the thought that she could crush her.
Metaphorically, of course.
And besides, this small chink in her armor would be quickly sorted out, as soon as they got inside. Perhaps this was her one weakness, her Achilles heel - rain. She did despise it rather thoroughly, after all.
"Thank you," Rin replied briskly, ready to move on from the fact that she needed help to carry her groceries home. Albeit, she had bought enough food to feed a young man, which was quite a lot when you thought about it, but nonetheless...
Rin glanced over at Yuu with robin's-egg-blue eyes, managing to wipe some of the water from her face with her hand and tuck the stray hair from her face. It was uncommon for one of her coworkers to take an interest in her personal life - though she supposed this might be considered small talk for most people. For people who actually had conversations with people.
"He's not much younger than I," she replied after a minute of debating. "Only a few years, though mentally he is considerably less." She smiled a little at that - almost affectionately, which seemed strange in comparison to her more common "politely detached" expression, or even her frightful "you idiot" expression. She blinked, broken out of her reverie when Yuu mentioned that she herself had two younger brothers. "Do you?" Rin queried, turning down a street and heading toward an apartment complex. "I imagine two very young brothers would be quite a bother, though I don't think they'd be living with you."
As they approached the apartment, Rin paused to dig around her in her pockets for a key, which she procured quite easily, considering her load. She unlocked the door to the apartment, beckoning Yuu inside after her as she entered a meticulously, almost obsessively, clean apartment. Everything was in place, not a carpet strand awry; and here it was that Rin seemed the most comfortable, the most relaxed. She set the groceries on the counter and gave a little sigh.
"Akihiko is probably sleeping," she explained, reaching over and taking the grocery bag from Yuu, "but thank you for helping me, anyway. I'm sure he'll appreciate it too when he has real food to eat."

A soft laugh escaped from Yuu at comment of Rin's brother being mentally much younger. Boys were boys, and men were boys on the inside... as much as that sometimes hurt a situation. A half-hearted sigh followed after as Yuu succeeded in ruining her own mood if only for the moment. Thankfully she could perk up rather quickly when it was all said and done, and after a few more seconds, she reminded herself that boys could be fun- especially when they were being silly. "You're correct," she replied. "They live with my parents." As the words left her lips, Yuu found the taste of the plural word still obscure to her. It was silly how one word's different forms could bring such feelings, but rather than dwell on it, Yuu was quick to close Pandora's Box and refocus.
Sure enough the apartment didn't seem too much farther, thankfully, and as Rin unlocked the door, Yuu hesitated until the beckoning before actually entering. Blue eyes flashed over the apartment taking it in and trying to draw conclusions from what was seen- the only one really being that everything seemed spotless. It looks like no one even lives here... It was too clean for that, almost... Shaking her head briefly, Yuu followed after Rin and held the bag out to Rin as the woman took it. Sleeping? Blinking as Rin spoke, Yuu's face promptly reflected a 'why' look. However, as soon as it had come, it was replaced for a small smile. "Always a pleasure to help," she replied earnestly. "You work so hard and all..." was the quiet mumble that followed. Yuu wasn't quite sure why she felt compelled to add that, but it somehow fit, right?
